You should verify that Anonymous Authentication is disabled. This can be
set on pages and directories as well. If you are getting '-' in the IIS
logs for the user accounts check the pages and directories listed in these
requests for Anonymous Authentication.

Also note that if you are seeing '-' for requests that also get a 401 for
the HTTP status code this is not something to be concerned about. Only '-'
on requests that have HTTP status of 200 are successfull anonymous requests.

If this doesn't solve your issue you may want to find an ASP.NET newsgroup
to post this question.

|Hi Folks,
|
|I am using integrated security on IIS 6.0 on Server 2003
|to access asp and ASP.NET pages.
|My user community is in a Server 2003 domain.
|
|I randomly experience this problem intermitently. The
|problem is that IIS does not know the identity of the
|user visiting the asp page. I am using the Logon_User
|server variable to print this to the response. The
|problem tends to come and go and I don't know why.
|
|The W3SVC1 logs have a "-" whenever this occurs.
|
|Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
|
|Regards,
|
|James Phillips
