iis problem about dllhost.exe

| Hi,Experts:
I have a Windows 2000 adv server with sp4 and other sp installed running iis service, IIS often runs slowly and looks
dead. Sometimes DLLHOST.exe uses lots of
memory and consumes almost 100% cpu, sometimes DLLHOST.exe uses little memory. But no matter how much
memory DLLHOST.exe occupy, no web pages can be accessed. After kill DLLHOST
process or restart IIS, all seems normal.MY dataserver is another win2000 adv server running sql-server 7.Anybody can help me,thanks!

| I have the same problem - I think it has to do something with the latest MS
patch "Data access ..." . Maybe the will patch it again within few year's ..
if not we should buy us more Ram (5.000 Gb ore more ...) :-)
We trying to find a solution, reinstal MDAC improves it a little bit, review
all asp files if connections are close also provides a improving - but a
complete solution we didn't find yet.
Maybe it's not only a server problem, because I noted restart the router
also kills the run out of memory effect.
Best wishes from Spain - If I find somthing new I'll mail it to you.
Matthias

| Next time it goes to 100% CPU, run IISState (www.iisfaq.com/iisstate) and
grab a log. It can tell us what is happening and we can give you some
guidance to fix it.
iisstate -p <pid of bad dllhost> <enter>

| If you are also experiencing the same problem, then you should also run
IISState (www.iisfaq.com/iisstate) against the bad process and we can see
what is causing the issue.
iisstate -p <pid of bad process> <enter>

| Thank you very much for your informative answer - the problem is that its a
win2k server and iisdtate doesn't permit access trough Terminal Server
sessions. I'm in Spain and the server is located in Austria.
So what can I do ?
Best regards

| To use it over terminal server:
1) Install IISState on a local machine.
2) Run it against inetinfo.exe. This will cause a License Screen to pop-up
that covers the license for the symbols you are about to download.
3) Assuming that you accept the license, a .yes file will be placed in the
\iisstate directory.
4) Copy this file to the \iisstate dir on the server in Austria.
5) Run IISState via either Telnet or Scheduled Task when the problem occurs.
If you don't have a .yes file, and attempt to run through term server
IISState will hang.
