I recently deployed Windows 2003 web/smtp server. Can someone recommend
antivirus and software firewall? I'm a novice, at best, server admin!

Thanks,
Rich

I use f-prot av and blackice server. I have had outstanding luck with
both products. I have installed f-prot on about 30 pc and some
servers. It works well and is priced reasonably.

Since you are hosting the server in another location, how about the
following idea:

Install a router with 80/443/21 and PPTP ports routed from the public
side to the server. Use PPTP to RAS into the server to manage it.

Install Symantec Small Business Edition 8.1 with Exchange filter
(assuming you are also running exchange for your SMTP server).

The Symantec SBE 8.1 offers full scanning of virus and email while also
allowing for spam and RBL filtering of inbound SMTP traffic.

You could get a software based firewall, but you should really have some
border protection in front of the server.

It's not an IIS issue, you'd be better served asking in the
windows.security group. As a novice, you'll wnat these though:
