Author PBM: Autentication prompt on the local W2K domain controller

Hi.

I've disabled anonymous access to an IIS folder on my intranet web. I've
also set permissions adequately on the disk folder so that only a group of
users can browse the folder (apart from Admins and SYSTEM, which have full
control rights). All machines in the Intranet have MSIE 6 SP1 or later. The
domain controller is a Windows 2000 Server. Workstations are Windows
2000/XP.

I'm noticing the following weird things:

1. On the local domain controller when I browse the secured folder I get an
authentication prompt from MSIE. (I'm logged on as an administrator)

2. If I add the IIS web to the trusted site list in MSIE *and* enable
Integrated Authentication in the Advanced options I get no authentication
prompt anymore.

On IIS there is the Default Web from the installation plus the Web I've
created. The latter is concerned with the "problem".

Is this behaviour normal or is there something I have missed?

Thanks.
