Author CPU queue lengths on web server

Dear all

I have a dual processor web server (Win2000) hosting ~ 70 web sites.

We're doing some performance monitoring on the server and found the
following:

Average CPU saturation falls between 80% and 100% (it peaks at 100% rather
than having prolonged periods where it's maxed out). This appears
satisfactory-ish...

The processor queue length is ~ 80! Microsoft state that anything over 8 is
deemed as poor. This appears worrying.

Is the queue length affected by the number of web sites? For example would
one busy website create approximately the same queue length as two websites
that are half as busy? I guess that it would.

I'm just wondering whether the queue length is something that I should be
very concerned about and, if so, what I can do about it. We've already
scaled out to 4 servers.

Thanks everyone in advance

Griff
