I went to START, Help and SUPPORT and read the instructions for installing IIS.
I went to ADD/REMOVE Windows Components.
Clicked on:
INTERNET INFORMATION SERVICES and installed the following components only:
COMMON FILES
DOCUMENTATION
FRONTPAGE 2000 SERVER EXTENSIONS
INTERNET INFORMATION SERVICES SNAP-IN
WORLD WIDE WEB SERVICES and under this in details I clicked on:
WORLD WIDE WEB SERVICES.

I then loaded my browser and entered HTTP://LOCALHOST/IISHELP.

The IIS help file came up in my browser. Under IIS SNAP-IN it said to go to
CONTROL PANEL, ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS and to click on INTERNET SERVICES MANAGER
but there is no INTERNET SERVICES MANAGER THERE. Where did I go wrong?

Any help will be appreciated.

Paul, it should be in control panel----administrative tools --- Internet
Information Services.
or invoke that from the run command.
%SystemRoot%\System32\inetsrv\iis.msc

Hope this help.

No, there is no Internet Information Services under Administrative Tools.

Yes, an Internet Information Services window came up. Isn't there a way to add
that as a menu option in the administrative tools? I will NEVER remember
"SystemRoot%\System32\inetsrv\iis.msc" every time I need to go there.

Yes. Thank you for getting me there.

OOPS! I just discovered *I* can change the Control Panel! I added a shortcut
to ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS called Internet Information Services Manager as a
shortcut to the address you gave me above.

Did I do the correct thing by changing the Control Panel?

for some reason the shortcut didn't appear in the admin tools, yes that's a
workaround and it should not affect any other of your apps.
