redirect default web site changes virtual directories
|
|
|
| i changed the default web site to point to the url /exchange which is a
virtual directory within the default web site. i answered yes to reflect
changes on the child objects, when i should've said no. iis 6.0 changed all
the virtual directories to /exchange. i can change the default web site back
to the directory wwwroot and it changes all the virtual directories back to
their original paths. when i try to change the default web site back to
/exchange, it changes all the virtual directories to /exchange without asking
me if i what to change the child objects. WTF?
thanks

| By design.
You've already messed up by answering "yes" to modify all child objects the
first time
When you tried to change it the second time, IIS has no child objects that
are different to change, so it just changes it.
It's like if you selected all files and hit delete, and when Windows asks
you, you said yes. Obviously, if you try to select and delete again, there
won't be any more files to delete, so Windows won't ask you about it.
