Author Compare II6.0 to IIS 5.0

I had two 2000 servers with IIS 5.0 Clustered and running fine. I then did a
fresh install of these two servers with 2003 web server with IIS 6.0
Clustered. Here is my question. the web hits decreased by approximately 20%
just by making this change. The servers are running great with no problems
but the application team is worried about why the decrease of web hits after
the change. Does anyone have an idea as to why? is it due to the logging or
caching differences? Thanks

How are you measuring hits? The change in sever platform shouldn't really
affect that.

We currently are using a 3rd party application called Web Trends to measure
the traffic going to the server.

A hit is a "single action on the web server", according to the Web Trends
definition of a hit.

As Tom says, changing the OS should not affect the number of visitors
(assuming that the change was flawless and did not interrupt the visitors).

Do you get any information about for example unique visitors? Does it show
the same?

I also assume that there were no holidays during the day(s) you were
observing this 20% decrease.
