Internet Explorer hangs when inline Word document is closed.

| Hello,
I have the following problem:
When openening a word document from within Internet Explorer (a link linking
to a *.doc) word opens up, load document and than hangs if I try to close the
internet Explorer Window. The window disappears, but is still visible on my
taskbar. The winword.exe process is also still visible in the process list.
Killing the winword.exe process also removes the Internet Explorer window
from the taskbar.
My current setup is:
Windows XP-SP2
Internet Explorer 6.0.29
Office 2003 (Word 2003)
A little research learned that word documents on certain webservers result
in this problem. I placed the file on the webserver of the client (Windows
2000 Server), on another Windows 2003 Server and on a Linux server. The
problem only appears with the document on the server of the client (= Windows
2000 Server). Can it be a rights issue?
Any clue on how to resolve this? Is actually driving me crazy trying to
debug it.
Thanks in advance,
Richard

| Hello,
IIS (and other webservers) serves the file, it is then up to the client to
open the file in Internet Explorer, or save it to disk. IIS is not in any
way involved in the process of closing the browser.
I suggest that you ask in an Internet Explorer newsgroup, because this
cannot be an issue with IIS.

Thank you Kristofer. I will repost in an Internet Explorer newsgroup.
