| I know this issue has been raised several times and I thought I had it
somewhat fixed but alas.
I'm getting the Event ID 1009 where the process fails with status code
0xffffffff five times and then of course 1002 where it disables the
application pool. I've looked at the KB articles on the permissions for keys,
folders, and secpol. Ran regmon but it showed no failures. The identity I
changed to Local System. Nada still same behavior.
Originally I fixed this by changing the identity to Local System. It served
html fine. But asp wouldn't work at all. It was allowed in web extensions.
The only thing I could find said to uninstall IIS and reinstall. Did that and
then get the problem above.
I also tried changing to IIS 5.0 isolation mode but that wouldn't work
either(the w3svc would try to start and after a couple minutes failed to
start). I uninstalled and reinstalled again after that.
How am I supposed to get this to work?

| Ok its been what now 12 days and still no response...what about 2 business
day response...I have checked and it is using the email I setup in my MSDN
Universal account...so how is this supposed to work?

| This newsgroup is a peer-to-peer public newsgroup, and there is no 2
business days response. That has to do with MSDN. You need to check with
MSDN.

| Well then why does it say
"This alias is also used by Microsoft Support to ensure that questions from
registered subscribers are answered by the community or by Microsoft
technical professionals within two business days."
Just that I guess Microsoft Support doesn't do anything when no one answers
in 2 business days other than perhaps add it to their database?

| What are MSDN managed newsgroups?
Managed newsgroups are for current MSDN Universal, Enterprise, Professional,
or Operating System subscribers. These subscribers can post a message and
receive a response from the community or a Microsoft Support Engineer within
2 business days. There are currently more than 220 newsgroups that are
offered as a part of this support offering, including an assortment of .NET
related technologies.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/managed/
How do I access the managed newsgroups?
All managed newsgroups are available through either the Web-based newsreader
or an NNTP newsreader, such as Outlook Express. A Web browser is all you
need to access discussion groups. Although anyone can view or post to these
groups, in order to ensure you a response within two business days, you must
post using a no-spam alias registered on the MSDN Subscriber Downloads site.
In order to register a no-spam alias, you must log into the MSDN Subscriber
Downloads site and select the register "here" link located on the What's Hot
page under the headline Get Unlimited Free PSS Support for Technical
Issues!.

| My point was I did all that and didn't get any kind of response whatsoever.

| My problem was the windows 2003 media was made with sp1 and it was the bad
media which didn't update all of the IIS versions to SP1.
The server originally came with 2003 sp1 already installed from dell. I
installed IIS from the original media(which was the the 2003 with sp1).
Apparently Microsoft shipped some bad versions with some of the files being
from sp1 and the others being the original versions.
In the end the fix was simply simply run sp1 and it fixed the dll
mismatches. Was glad they didn't count it against one of my support incidents.
