| I am having the same problems with my FTP server. It
seems as though once you change directories after 3 times
you account gets locked, almost as though it's passing a
blank password with the username.

| Mm... is the directory locally or on remote share ?
try enable logon audit event and check if you see
anything special in ftp log file.
