| I'm just curious what DNS entry needs to be made for a
FTP site? Just a A record entry, with the FTP name and
the IP of the FTP server, if its not a local machine?

| If your talking about having an FTP server on a Intranet Lan and you want to
be able to use a severname name in IE then you would create and A record on
your internal DNS server. If you are looking to have an FTP server on the
internet that you type in a domainname into IE, then you first have to
purchase a domainname from a company like Network Solutions, second you have
to have an account on a DNS server that's on the internet, with a company
like www.zoneedit.com and set up a DNS user account.

Technically, you don't need a DNS entry - you can connect to an FTP site
using just the IP address. But for most people, a name makes things easier,
and it's a good idea when you create a name to create a reverse mapping from
number to name, if you can.
