| I've been given the task of creating a couple of folders that are accessible
to all users, but am having trouble doing this.
I've not tried to configure IIS 5.1 nor it's FTP component, and this setup
I've been given is a legacy at a client. I've noticed that it seems to
isolate users automatically (?). This is good as the client wants it this
way, but how do I set up a folder that all can access?

| It would seem that this should be just like FTP under IIS 5.0, as I thought
it should be, however its not working that way.
Perhaps further detail will help. This is on a WinXP PRO system. The
configuration dialog boxes are also different from those I've seen under
W2K, for instance the ability to create a new FTP site is missing (as is
creation of a web site).
Also, it doesn't seem to matter what I do to the permissions. The system
will either allow someone in and always work the same, or they are denied
access.

| Yes,the dialog box msg and etc will be different, but not much.
the basic flow is still the same.
W2k Pro and XP Pro only support 1 ftp site, 1 web site, 1 smtp site and 0
nntp site.
this behavior is by design.
next regarding your permission problems, I don't quite get you.
so have you created new users account, can they login ?
what's the related issue? have you try command line ftp.exe to login and
test ?

Of course. It's a workstation OS, you only get one site.

Can't help there. It works exactly the same as W2K on my system.
Proper permissions, including NTFS permissions and the Log On Locally
right will allow access.
