Hi all experts,

I've configured my server as a FTP server(not DC, no DNS,
no static IP)

From IIS manager, I can see
1. Default FTP site
2. myit (my FTP site); IP Address: (Public IP)
3. Web server

My question here is how do I know the FTP site setup
correctly? I was unable to access my FTP by typing the
name "myit". But I can access to my FTP by typing the IP
address. (understand if the computer without DNS, I won't
be able to login. I will have to use IP address to login,
am i right?

However, I asked one of my friend to connect to my site by
typing the IP address, he was unable to login. He told me
the operation time out. Ensure that is a valid and have
the permission to access.....

Why is that so? Can anyone please enlighten me? Thank you.

how do you connect to the net?
router ? what IP you give to your friends?

you need to give them the external IP address
and make sure your router has been configured to forward the request to your
ftp server.

read the product manual.
