| I want to create a SSL encrypted FTP site with IIS
Is this possible? If not is there any freeware ftp server softwares out there to do this?

| Not with IIS FTP.
Google the net for third party products.
or try webdav which support ssl.

You can check on what FTP over SSL implementations there are at
http://www.ford-hutchinson.com/~fh-...ext.html#server - scroll down
a little way, and you'll see "proxies", which will allow you to use your
existing FTP server, but serve the data using FTP over SSL authentication
and encryption.

I know as per FTP docs SSL is not possible with FTP Server.
But you can try is Have SSL Web Server. USe NT users for folder protection. USe IE for for downloading those restricted files.
As per Secure FTP I have read about using openssh with FTP to make sftp. I have not used it myself though. I have used secure FTP clients with Linux FTP server. So I know my servers works with Secure FTP. But Its Linux. May be ssh should be tried with WIndows. WSFTP pro claims to works with WIndows Server with sftp. Going to try SSH with windows now.

The OpenSSH suite includes the ssh program which replaces rlogin and telnet, scp which replaces rcp, and sftp which replaces ftp. Also included is sshd which is the server side of the package, and the other basic utilities like ssh-add, ssh-agent, ssh-keysign, ssh-keyscan, ssh-keygen and sftp-server. OpenSSH supports SSH protocol versions 1.3, 1.5, and 2.0. |
