I set up my first FTP server today and I have a few issues

I went in to the IIS snapin to the properties for default
FTP site. Changed the location of the home directory to a
folder share on another partition. entered the ipaddress
and port number i want to use. created a ftp user and ftp
user group. gave the ftp security group admin rights to
the shared folder. entered the ftp user and ftp group to
the ftp site operators. putthe ftp user account in for
username with password. clicked apply.

when I attempt to connect with the ftp user account I get
access denied but I can login as administrator no problem.

when I attempt to use either the LS or DIR commands I get
the following: 150 opening ASCII mode data connection
for /bin/ls

it does not display a directoey or return to the prompt.

how do I allow security access for my ftp user and how
can I get it to display the directory.

I have port fordwarding on my routet to let me through

You need to add your FTP security group to the local security policy
granting them the log on locally permission.

normal users cannot log on locally to a server, which in essence is what
your FTP service is.

For this error, I believe it's related to port settings.
if you try ftp.exe to connect, do you have any problem ?

ftp uses port 21 and 20 for active mode, and others in
passive mode, refer this kb
Information About the IIS File Transmission Protocol (FTP) Service
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=283679

for W2kSP4 and Win2003, you can customize the passiveportrange,
