| When someone logs onto my FTP site, and after completing their down/upload,
logs off (closes the browser), they still show as connected until the
"connection timeout" is reached and then it generates an event log message
saying:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSFTPSVC
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10
Date: 2/11/2004
Time: 5:24:31 PM
User: N/A
Computer: MYSERVER
Description:
User XXXX at host 99.99.99.99 has timed-out after 3000 seconds of
inactivity.
Do I have something misconfigured ?

| This is normal, ftp will disconnect any inactivity user when it reach the
timeout setting. you have 3000 seconds ? by default IIS5 is 900 secs and 120
for IIS 6.

| Thanks
But why doesn't it disconnect when the user does - why wait for the time to
expire ?
