CAN login, CAN'T Pull File Download

| I have set up FTP on Win 2003 server. WE have a static
IP. I can login under the dos prompt, and it verifies
me. I have even remotely created a folder from the
prompt. BUT i can't ever get information. If it tries
to tell me the directory listing, or even if i download a
test file by name, it freezes and i have to Ctrl-C out of
it. I can't even use IE to browse.
I believe it has something to do with ports not opened.
I read that the client computer decides which port is
downloading, so how can i set the Front end router, and
the NAT/Firewall on the server to allow the downloading
ports to be opened, when i don't know what the
downloading port is going to be!!
Thanks for your help in advance. It is GREATLY
appreciated

| Again, always test the site locally first,
a) do you have any problem if you use ftp.exe and ftp'ing locally ?
b) in active mode, ftp need 21/20.
passive mode, refer kb

| As per your question, i checked and i can login locally
and move files around, it's when i go remote that i
can't. I kinda traced the problem. i think it has to do
with the remote client computer randomly picking a port
to do the data transfers on, and that port not being open
on the router. I am sooo frustrated!!

| So, configure the port forwarding then.
You can customize it with IIS6, refer IIS metabase key
'PassivePortRange'
