what's the event id ?
did you stop ftp services when you running perfmon ?

You might consider uninstaling the Site Server ILS service. It's buried
somewhere deep in the Add/Remove-Programs / Windows Components interface.

Another suggestion I found was to set the SMTP service to start manually
rather than automatically. But I'm not sure how that would affect
anything.

A third suggestion was to remove one of the NICs and test again. (Assumes a
dual-homed box.)
