FTP user access HELP
|
|
|
| I am trying to set user access on our server and know
nothing about it. Our server guy is out of town for a
couple of weeks.
We have a folder with all of our clients websites in it.
I want to give access to one of the websites to a client.
I go in and add a user and they are able to get access,
but they are also getting access to everyone elses'
websites. If I make a new folder with just thier website
in it, only they have FTP access, but when I go to the
website, it asks for a login. how do I restrict the FTP
user access but allow people to view the website without
entering a login?
HELP!

| The login is a must for ftp, even more anonymous access, you need to specify
'anonymous' and enter a email address for the password. some ftp client app
auto login as 'anonymous' user.
You should always enable authentication to protect unauthorzied access.

| I did all this but it won't let me pull the website up
online. It makes the FTP system work great, but the
website needs to be viewable. I get this error "You are
not authorized to view this page" It is a HTTP 401.3
error.

| This is HTTP error not ftp issue,
401.3 - Unauthorized due to ACL on resource.
if you enable anonymous browsing ensure the iusr a/c
has at least READ permission for the files.
