I set up ftp but when i try to use it the ftp client
brings up this error...

Reply:> 500 Invalid PORT Command.
State:> Force close data connection.

i have checked the server and it is recognizing the
session. i set up the ftp server from knowledge base

Jason,

Is there any sort of router/NAT device or firewall between the client
and the server ? If so you need to ensure that the correct ports are
being allowed through and/or forwarded correctly.

FTP Error: 500 Invalid PORT Command
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=281193

it's related to ftp mode.

I changed the default port from 21 to 20 and that seemed
to correct the problem. But know my clients still get a
connection timeout when they try to ftp in from their
machines. However I am able to complete the request from
mine to the server.

??
