WIN2k IIS5 FTP Server Issue
|
|
|
| I am trying to download 9gig file. Using win2k pro line
mode ftp program, after 300mb, the download stops and
connection is closed. Using ws_ftp, the download stops
after 5gig.
What is the problem with the native win2k pro ftp client?
Would anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks in advance

| I don't know any fix, but by right it should work, but it just not behaving
the correct way.
It's always better to use a better ftp client. if ws_ftp stop at 5gigs, then
you might check server log on why it get stop halfway. 9gb is huge, so a
resume download capability should help.

It's possible that the control connection is being timed out by a NAT or
firewall in between the client and server, and that's what's causing the
disconnection. Finding out why the transfer was interrupted is definitely
an important step. A network monitor trace of the traffic would be huge,
so it's probably best to start with the log from the client and server, to
see what they each believe caused the transfer to stop.

KB article 841017 answers those questions as follows:
1. No.
2. None (or one, depending on how you count).
