I want to set up several FTP sites on IIS 6. Is there any reason to keep
the Default FTP Site? Can I delete it and re-create it at will?

Deko,

It is recommended that you remove the default web site for security
purposes. However, please be aware that some applications, such as Microsoft
Exchange and Software Update Services use the default web site. So be aware
of any application that may be using the default site.

Thanks for the tip, but I was asking about the default FTP site. I tried
deleting it and using individual FTP sites, but users could no longer access
their ftp virtual directories, so I recreated it.

There's nothing in default ftp site, except with the site id 1. other than
that, 'nothing'.
when you remove a site, all virtual directories under the site will be
removed as well, hence you need to create it.

it's perfectly ok to just re-use the default ftp site and customize it to
your requirement.
