ASP and Error 404 - allowed and still won't show

| I have allowed ASP in IIS, but when I try to view a page, I still get the 404 error message. I have made sure the necessary file is there and that it exists. But, I still get this error. Is there something else I should try?
THanks for any help,
Danielle

| In the IIS log file, or another log file?
IIS 6.0, I believe. Isn't that the default for 2003? If not, then I will have to check what version.

| Yes, if you running Windows Server 2003, you are running IIS 6.0.
Now, have you enable the web service extension for asp ?
"HTTP Error 404 - File or Directory not found" error message when you

| Yes, I do have ASP allowed. But it still is giving me that 404. I don't know where else to look.

| Also, I tried rebooting to see if that helped, but it did not. And, I checked that the asp dll was located where IIS said, and it is.
Thank you,
Danielle

| Danielle and Bernard,
I'm having a similar problem. However, in my case, IIS6 will serve ASP
pages fine from the wwwroot folder. But, it won't serve any pages from
child folders (ex. wwwroot\asp\books\mypage.asp(x)). I've checked all the
permissions, and they seem to be identical down the tree.
I can open files in that folder, and I can put files in that folder without
a problem. I just can't display files, even .htm files, in child folders
under wwwroot.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks, in advance.

| Mine are actually in a sub folder, too. I never thought about checking if they weren't. I will try that and see what happens.
Thanks,
Danielle

| I suggest you check the 404 substaus error code in the log file. It might
give a hint about what's causing this problem.

| Post the IIS log file entry for that request.
