Hi all,
I have just learnt some basic asp at uni and would like to
create a system using ASP and MS Access for my current
employer. As I am a novice can you make any suggestions
for my below queries or point me in the right direction
for link to read.

I would like to set this up as an intranet site that can
only be viewed within the organisation. I will be using
Windows XP Pro and installing IIS on that machine and
treating it as an intranet server. Do you suggest that I
disable the internet access to this machine storing the
Database and the ASP files for security reasons as they
have ADSL currently installed? And enable the connection
to install updates etc

If I create a short cut on each machine that needs access
to the site/application (these machines will have Internet
access) using the physical path will this ensure security?

All users of the site will be required to login with their
own username and password and a session will be created.

I will be creating the site at home and want to scpoe my
secuity issue out before I begin as I do not want to
jepudise the companies informaiton(ie employess banking
details and payroll data). I will be installing IIS on my
machine shortly. I have norton Internet security installed
with a Firewall. Can you point me in the right direction
to configure my firewall or should I just disable the
internet network while working on the site and then
disable IIS when I want to use the PC for Internet surfing?

Will it be safe to also incorporate a payroll system to
this intranet or should I keep this as a se[erate
applicaiton??

Thank-You for your help. Hope this doesn't sound too silly.
