COM Surrogate message

Need

I am running Win2003 Server with Exch. 2003.
Server stopped receiving and sending email, upon restart of the server
received the following error message.

"COM Surrogate encountered a problem and need to close."

After the restart the Exchange worked fine but I could not find and
information on the error message. Any takers?
