Exchange 2000 SP3 using SSL for OWA users
We created another web site in IIS and installed a Verisign certificate to
enable us to use SSL for our users. Problem is every after server restart, we
have to type 443 in the SSL Port textbox of that particular web site in IIS.
When we used SSL in Default Web Site of IIS before, this was not a problem.
Is this a bug? Whats the workaround for this? We are restarting our
exchange server several times a week so the disappearing act of SSL Port 443
is a major problem for us.
Please reply.
Thanks.

| Try setting this using ESM.

| Often this occurs in Windows 2000 because your settings first get stored to
a cached copy of the IIS metabase in memory and Windows fails to save the
settings to disk when Windows is shut down for various reasons.
The workaround for me usually is to manually stop and restart the IIS www
service after making the change, and confirm that the setting is still
there.

| thanks for replying karl. is your workaround temporary? becuase i tried it
but after server restart 443 disappears again. i did what you suggested to
type 443 then restart IIS. 443 still disappears.

| Hi Bernard,
Your response solved my problem. SSL port 443 does not disappear anymore
from IIS after server restart after adding it via ESM. Thanks very much!!!
