NNTP and IIS 6 and Integrated Windows Authentication
|
|
|
| I am trying as an experiment to set up a news server on Win2K3 with
IIS6 and NNTP. I figure that for the client reader to use windows
authentication I should set up permissions on the content folder for
the newsgroup. I am getting the following:
Error Number: 480
Code 800ccca2
Any ideas?
This is set up on the default NNTP server and the content is on the
file system of the same box but in a virtual directory off the NNTP
server.
This is pretty much useless to me unless IIS6 and NNTP can use windows
auth. Any help appreciated.

| More detail: I added a user to the content folder permissions via
Active Directory and gave that user all access.
The error was encountered when trying to list newsgroups from Outlook
Express. The server was seen but the newsgroup list was unavailable due
to the logon failure...

| In Outlook Express did you check the "Logon using Secure Password
Authentication" checkbox (on the server tab of the properties of the news
account)?
