Help please - Deleting files - Access denied
|
|
|
| I have some files on my C: drive downloaded from a number
of websites and saved in a folder. I have tried to delete
them, and I get the message "Access denied. Source file
may be in use"
I have tried the Command Prompt using rd /s/q, and still
it does not work - I am told I do not have access to each
file. I can move them between folders, leaving the
original folder empty, but the restriction is still there.
I have tried shift delete,to no avail. I am also pretty
sure I could clear this up when I had Windows ME, so how
can I delete these files in W2000?

| Please try a Windows 2000 group. IIS is not going to be able to help you
here (IIS is a piece of server software).
Cheers

| Try in the files:
Properties in explorer->Security->Advanced->Owner->Change owner to... pick one->Apply
This set's the owner to yourelf.
Then, leave that box and enter again until Advanced, and set NTFS permissions to FULL. Aplly those recursive properties and voilá! You got the control of the files.
