Author IIS 5 now wants logon

I'm using IIS 5 on Win2000 server, using ssl for my
internet site. Site name example was
https://site.domainename.com. Two nic cards - 1 into the
lan the other to the firewall. Site worked great from the
outside.

I removed one nic for a couple days from the web server
(website not public yet, I wasn't done with a few pages)
because I needed it temporarily in another machine at
work. That nics address was 10.0.0.2.

Now when I put the nic back it wants a different ip so I
changed it to 10.0.0.3 and now it asks for a usernamd and
password to log onto my website of
https://site.domainename.com.

What happenend and how do I fix it? Removing the nic & ip
change were the only changes.

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

Changing the IP address shouldn't cause a password prompt. You did say that
you were changing some web pages etc, so you must have been making some
other changes surely?

Please give us relevant information about your setup, eg:
a) any errors in the event log?
b) do you have "Allow Anonymous Access" enabled? Does the configure
anonymous user account have appropriate NTFS permissions to the files?
c) etc

Cheers
Ken

I was changing web pages on a different server - only
change on the original server was removing the nic to use
on the other server.

However Ken, now that you mention it.....I do vaguely (!)
recall changing a setting or two in the logon locally mmc -
oops. I changed it back, logon is gone, all is working.

Thanks for helping me jolt my memory!
