I use a web server to build and preview pages before posting them on a ww
server. Have ben using PWS4 under 98/Me. Upgraded?? to XP pro. Have IIS
installed and it reports running. I type http://localhost or
http://computername and I get.......
There is a problem with a program on the page you are trying to reach,
and the page cannot be displayed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

a.. Open the localhost home page, and then look for links to the
information you want.
b.. Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

HTTP 403.1 Forbidden: Execute Access Forbidden
Internet Information Services

Sounds like a permission problem, but I have no idea how to get around it.
Directory security for the website is checked anonymous. The system is a
2.6g Intel CPU/210gig HD Fat32 in four partitions.

Viewing events has not disclosed anything relevant to me but maybe I don't
know what to look for.

Can anyone help me get thisd thing going?

Thanks

Hi. I think the problem lies in the default web server application, which most likely is configured with no execute permissions, when it should have "execute scripts" to allow localstart.asp to run. To try this possible solution, go to the IIS snap-in, ri
ght click your site, go to properties, then the tab folder or directory, and at the bottom of it you'll see a combo, right next to the configuration button. It should read execute scripts or something like that.

I hope this helps.

Is your default document a script or executable? If so, you need to
allow scripts or executables for the site. Test by creating a "Hello
World!" HTML page and accessing it by name.

Hello,
As mentioned earlier, you may be seeing the 403.1 error if you do not have
Execute permissions enabled on the site (IIS MMC-> right click on Site->
Properties-> Home Directory-> Execute Permissions in the Application
Settings section should be Scripts and Executables).

Please check out the following articles to see the other possible reasons.

Hope this helps!
