| Hi, I've got kind of a strange problem and I haven't been
able to figure out why it's happening. I've got a web
site with a restricted folder. The correct NTFS
permissions have been configured on the folder:
Domain Admins: Full Control
INTERACTIVE: List (Special)
IUSR_ : Read
NETWORK: List (Special)
SYSTEM: List (Special)
Other groups: Read
IIS directory security is configured to use Basic
Authentication and Integrated Windows Authentication
only. I've also enabled SSL on the site and required 128-
bit SSL encryption.
When I access the restricted folder on Windows 2000 with
IE6 (6.0.2800.1106) I get the usual logon prompt. If I
click 'OK' with a blank username and password it opens
the page anyway. Clicking on 'Cancel' gives me a HTTP
401.1 Unauthorized access error and entering the wrong
credentials prevents me from viewing the page. So these
two actions seem to work properly. Mozilla and Opera do
not have the same problem. Also, IE 6 on Windows XP
works properly. So it seems to be a problem with IE 6 on
Windows 2000. This may actually be a problem with IE 6
but I wanted to make sure it didn't have anything to do
with server configuration. Has anyone else seen this
problem or know how I can fix it? Thanks!
