Hi,
I am in the process of installing IIS 6.0 on a separate partition and will be using a answer file during a unattended component installation. I have been reviweing this subject fully and have reviewed the following KB articles from MS Support Q259671, Q30
9506 and googled the hell out of this. Along with reading several books on IIS 6 and Windows Server 2003.

The problem i am having is i would like more information on all the possiable component installs and there definations for there names used in the answer file.

Such as the following iis_pwmgr, iis_htmla etc.. i have not been able to find the defination of these component files and others that may need installation. Article Q309506 gives definations on some of the install files but not all.

Where can i find a complete list of these component file definations?

Sorry for cross posting.
Thanks Ron

Paul,
Thanks that helps out allot some of the books i have read
explained the same thing but they do not mention what it
is you are installing. Of course i figured out the basic
ones like iis_www, iis_ftp and so on it's just common
since. But some of the ones like iis_htmla and iis_pwmgr
i could only assume ad some thing to do with
administration.

Thanks for the response.

The IIS6 Resource Guide that Paul pointed to is probably one of the source
for authoritative information on IIS6. All of the information come directly
from IIS6 team members who designed/developed/tested IIS6. Yes, we all
spent hours writing/editing this "book".

Downloadable version of the Guide can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&DisplayLang=en

It is also available in print for purchase, but honestly, it's already
freely available for download and it's on the Microsoft web site...
