IIS 6.0 -> all the sudden you need to enter a password to access

Dear all,

something strange is happening with our server (is win2003 entreprise
with iis 6).

Several websites are configured on the machine and working properly (for
a while). All of the sudden you need to enter a password and login to
enter each of the sites, without anything changed in the configuration.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

(checking my logfiles did not help to solve the problem).
