Author IIS 6.0, ASP.NET and WSS - which web.config
web.config

I am confused with the number of web.config files on C
drive. For IIS, ASP.NET and WSS, I see the following:

1)C:\inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_webadmin
2)C:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web
server extensions\60\CONFIG
3)C:\windows\microsoft.net\..
4)C:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web
server extensions\60\ISAPI
5)web.config in C:\program files\common files\microsoft
shared\web server extensions\wpresources
6)C:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web
server extensions\60\TEMPLATE
7)C:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web
server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\ADMIN\1033

in addition, I get two per site when I create a site
directory.

I would like to filter some users under <authorization>
tag. I am not successful so far. Can someone recommend
where I need to modify for WSS application?

Thanks Microsoft.
