| I have created a vitual directory "Financials" on internal web server which
is using IWA to access excel spreadsheets. When a user with NTFS full
permissions accesses directory all files open. When a user with Read &
Execute, List Folder Contents and Read access opens the web folder the
folder opens properly but when ever a file in the directiry is accessed the
user is prompted to authenticate, if they cancel it opens read only which is
what is needed but without the auth prompt.
Thanks in advance

| Well, make sure the user has access permission at file level as well.

| When a user with ""NTFS" (I.E. as listed on the security tab at the file
level. To be sure actually checked individual files)
full permissions accesses directory all files open. When a user with Read &
Execute, List Folder Contents and Read. These properties are set to be
inherited from parent directory
\\myserver\Financials\Doc-Sheets
The web share is set to
Access Permissions
read, write, directory browsing
Application Permissions
Scripts
Is is correct to infer from this post that the authentication prompts for
read only users are abnormal.
