.NET 1.1 update wrecks IIS?

I've installed and uninstalled the recent .NET 1.1 security update KB886903
for XP and invariably it breaks the proper fuction of my IIS setup. My
default application (home page) works as usual with or without the update,
but with the patch installed all the several subwebs I have can not run at
all. I get a 'Page not found or 'Resource cannot be found'. The resources
are there, and even typing a complete URL does not help. The sites are
locked out no matter what I've tried. Uninstall the 1.1 patch and all works
perfectly once again.

Anybody else experiencing this?
