I'm trying to implement WEBDAV on a W2k3 server and to connect using XP
pro.

I've set up a website just for this purpose. I created a new A record
in the DNS (docs.xyz.com) and created the website using host headers.

I created a virtual directory, lets call it 'mydocs'.

I gave domain users full control over the mydocs folder.

I went into directory security and unchecked anonymous access.

Now when I go to http://docs.xyz.com/mydocs in the web browser (IE 6.0)
I am prompted for a password the user defaults to docs.xyz.com\steve

I enter my domain password and I am able to view the directory contents
(I turned write read and browse for the virtual directory).
So far so good. Thst's great if all I want to do is to read, but this
gives me no write ability.

When I use the File Open prompt in IE 6 and check the 'Open as Web
Folder' box when I enter the URL. I am faced with the same
authentication prompt but when I enter my password it is not taken.

What gives? I get the same behavior when I try to add a 'network
place'. I'm stumped...

I've searched around but cannot find a solution, help!

Hi Steve,

Have you selected "allowed" WebDav under web services extensions? I'm
still figuring it out too...

I am not sure of the answer yet. I am having all kinds of issues finding
information about WebDAV and IIS 6.o on Windows 2003. If I find anything out
I will post.

I'm also having WebDAV authentication issues...

I'm getting a 401 error in my VS app when I try to connect to my Exchange
server via webdav. WebDAV is enabled
in IIS.
