IIS Server Security - access when I use my ip address

When I try to access my local SharePoint site I get an error http 500 but
when I use my local IP address I can logon fine. Is there a problem.

I am using windows 2003 AD with local DNS server.

Please help

500 error ? try disable IE friendly error msgs and post the real error msgs
here.
