I have a W2K domain/forest running RADIUS. Clients are authenticated to an
NT4 domain. A trust exists between the two domains. We are replacing our
NT4 with Windows 2003. Are there any gotchas I need to watch for? I am
guessing that as long as I maintian the trusts, things should go smoothly,
correct?

Correct,
It's highly recommended that you move the IAS server to the Win2k3 domain,
since it's more secure and have it authenticate Win2k through trust between
the domains

This is the best way to do multi domain authentication

Hey Everyone,

I found a tutorial online so I set up an AD with IAS and Regiestered
the IAS in the AD. However when I look at the logs or event viewer I see no
entries for IAS. There are plenty in there for AD. Yes i have checked
services to make sure it was started. I also checked in the
C:/Windows/System32/LogFiles directory there is nothing there either. I also
went into IAS mc and check to make sure I had logging on, and it is anyone
got any Ideas why i am not seeing any logs generated from IAS?

Thanks,

Once you set up tracing (as in my mail from a couple of min ago), look at
the c:\WINDOWS\Tracing and the trace files there might give you a hint if
something is wrong.. You can copy paste trace files so we can see if there
is something wrong.

Thanks, Manju

Hey Manju

I tried that command and it didn't work so I am researching to find what
to run to get it to work properly. I will keep ya posted.

See ya

Michael

Can you tell me what error message you got when you ran "netsh ras set
tracing * enable"? If it did not give any error message, that means tracing
is turned on. Now when you send a radius request, you should see the
logfiles in c:\WINDOWS\Tracing. Let me know what you find.

Thanks, Manju
