Hi,

I am trying to implement a 802.1x vlan with Windows 2003 srv on IAS
Applance. I have some querry just listing down. I will be installing
certificate authority on windows 2003 server which will be talking to
RADIUS( IAS SERVER). I need some clarity with u experts.

1) How certificate authority will talk to IAS ( any document or link)

2) Can i intergrate ADS( WIN 2003 SRV) with IAS.

3) How is the Interoperbility with cisco switches.

4) Does it support peap.

5) Radius attributes for Vlan.

6) IAS features any doccument or link.

I need some suggestion from you experts how to go abt regarding this
implementaion or any case studies u have pls forward to me

Hi Alex --

This whitepaper should assist a lot:
"Deploying Windows Server 2003 Internet Authentication Service (IAS) with
Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs)" at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...=C9ED3609-49FC-
439B-92F4-266B187CAE5A&displaylang=en

The CA doesn't really talk to IAS -- if you autoenroll certificates to IAS
and RAS servers using Certificate Services, the IAS server just
automatically receives a server certificate from the CA.

By ADS do you mean Advanced Server or Active Directory (AD)? I think you
mean Active Directory -- and yes, IAS is designed to work automatically
with AD. No special configuration is involved, except that after you
install IAS you need to register the IAS server in AD with a simple command
on the menu. This is documented in the IAS Help.

If the cisco switch you are using is 802.1X and RADIUS compatible, you can
configure it as a RADIUS client in IAS. For more information, see
"Deployment of IEEE 802.1X for Wired Networks Using Microsoft Windows" at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...=05951071-6b20-
4cef-9939-47c397ffd3dd&DisplayLang=en

IAS does support PEAP, and you can learn about the IAS attributes for VLANs
in the first whitepaper I mention above.
