| i have two win2k professional machines, one is inside a firewall and one is
outside. i want to use smarthost idea to send emails, and the setup is as
follow:
machine1 machine2 mail server
smarthost: smarthost
machine2 mail server
the problem is that i got email at the badmail with the message undelivery
to aaa@bbb.com.
but, if i change the smarthost of machine1 to mail server, instead of
machine2. it works.
does it mean that the smarthost can be set to a mail server, can't be set to
another SMTP service at IIS.
thanks!

No. There is another problem. What is the reason from non-delivery report?

| Also it is better to specify ip of mail server in smart host field enclosed
in brackets []
for example [12.32.233.22]
This way it is not needed from smtp server to perform dns query for every
message.
