| I'm still tearing out my hair. (OK, I'm bald, but...)
yesterday things seemed to be working fine. Today, users
can't authenticate! (the classical 10061/0x800CCC0E msg)
Just to be sure, I replaced the user's password--no
change. What bugs me is that it worked yesterday, now it
doesn't. (This is not one user, but all of 'em!)
This is also the second time that something like this has
happened in the past two weeks. Last time it suddenly
started working correctly (why?) so I could not find the
problem.
In the system event log, I get an event 100 when this
happens to the SMTP side, bad userid or password (why
can't they tell me *which* is bad? <g> ) I don't get any
entries for the POP3 service when this error happens
(again, why? logging level set to maximum, stoping and
restrating does generate entries in the application log.)
(it seems that user's can log on OK, too!, so that seems
to eliminate that end!)
