I'm hosting a couple clients on a Windows 2003 Web Edition box. Each client
has their own domain. For every mailbox a Windows user account is created.
I've run into a conflict, though, if I need the same mailbox on different
two domains; ex: sales@client1.com and "sales@client2.com" ...both attempt
to create a Windows user account named "sales". Is there any way of going
about this? I believe that a possible solution is create an Active
Directory server but I'm not sure that I can do that on Window 2003 Web
Edition. I would appreciate any help!

Hello,

As you have noticed, the same username but on different domains, is not
possible with Windows Authentication. This is however possible with the two
other authentication methods, Active Directory and Encrypted File. If i
remember correctly, the web edition cannot be configured as a Domain
Controller (but can be joined to a domain, which should be suffience). But,
this might not be possible for you, so you have only one authentication
method left - Encrypted File Authentication.

Note: Changing from Windows Authentication to Encrypted File, requires that
you delete all domains :-(

You can read more about the Authentication Methods here:
http://www.ilopia.com/Windows+Serve...rticles/57.aspx
(scroll down a bit)

or in the help files for the POP3 service.

Hope this helps you, and answers your question(s).

How do I enable Encrypted File? In my Pop3 manage, "Local Windows Accounts"
is selected and grayed-out so I can't change it. Do I need to have
something else installed?

SCRATCH THAT! I just needed to delete the existing domain first and then it
let me change the authentication method. Thanks for your help!
