SMTP IIS Status 5.0.0 Error Message

| I know this question has been posted in this group before, but I have
not been unable to identify any exact resolution. Pretty much
everything I have read has been related to Exchange 2000 Server
configuration. We are not using Exchange, just IIS SMTP. Details....

The error (server names and email addresses removed):
Reporting-MTA: dns;[FQDN of server]
Received-From-MTA: dns;[server name]
Arrival-Date: Wed, 31 Mar 2004 08:00:18 -0500
Final-Recipient: rfc822;[recipient email address]
Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0

Configuration in a nutshell:
1) Running IIS 5.0 on W2K SP3
2) No exchange server
3) DNS server exists
4) not using a smart host
5) Relay is allowed (2 servers listed)
This error does NOT occur for all emails. The majority of email
addresses are valid; which is making us believe there is some
anti-spam solution implemented on the recipient side. I am hoping
somebody out there can provide a checklist of areas/values to check to
make sure there is not something mis-configured.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

| Were you able to get an answer to this question? I too am having the same issue exception with Windows Server 2003 using IIS6. I've been pulling my hair out over this for a few days now and have found no solution as of yet. Any insight would be great!
