Author error 500 in iis smtp logs

Hi,
I have an IIS 5.0 server with smtp virtual server for receiving mails.
Recently I noticed plenty of lines with error (server answer) 500 in log
file.
It's always after DATA line, smtp command appears to be "." (dot)
As expected message is not received in this case.
Can anybody tell what's wrong?
