Author Cannot DELETE domain
Christian Anton

I created two bogus domains in the Default SMTP virtual server in IIS 6.0 on
a windows 2003 server.

I can't delete them. All the reading I've done says to right-clickon the
domain and select delete, but the delete option is not there when I right
click on ANY of the domains.

How do I get rid of these two?

Are these local aliases? remote domains?

Cheers
Ken

Sorry,

Local, as to whether they're aliases or not.... I don't know. Though, i
guess it'd make sense that once it's local it's an alias.

You should be able to delete local aliases, but not the "Local (default)"
domain. Are you running the POP3 server as well? You may need to delete the
domain over there first (not sure about this), before you can delete it from
SMTP Server.

I had the same problem. After all, you can delete them from the registry
using metabase explorer or metaedit. Be sure not to delete the default
domain
and, that you do not delete domains that are created by using the exchange
console for instance.

I just un-installed and re-installed the SMTP and POP3 services to fix this.

Grrrrr

I see you had the POP3 Server installed. You will need to delete the domain
in the POP3 server before you can delete the domain in the SMTP server. This
is because the two are linked.

Cheers
