Secondary mail Spooler

| All,
I've got an exchange server running in my office and another company hosts
our secondary mail spooler, so that if our exchange server is offline this
secondary mail server spools mail until exchange is back online.
I want to use windows 2003's SMTP server to start doing this same thing.
Does anyone know if/how this SMTP server can be setup to que mail until my
exchange server is online again?
Thanx a lot.

Okay, first off, why is your Exchange Server off line? If it's a
network break, then wouldn't that affect your Server 2003 box as well?
Second, the answer is a qualified yes. Any SMTP server can act as a
store and forward system with an MX record with a higher priority
number.

| I was sure it could be done, but I hadn't found something that explained
how... Well, I finally figured out how to do it. This MSFT Article says
how:
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;324272
Having the secondary spooler is just for a safety factor in case something
does happen to the exchange server, or it's internet connection. This
second server is going to be on a different internet connection and power
supply.
