Author unable to recieve external mail

the exchange 2000 server is not recieving external e-
mails. it is sending and recieving internal mail fine and
sending external mail. for some reason it is not
recieving external e-mail. the services are running...
what else do i need to check? help!!

Does your domain's DNS configuration have a MX record that points to your
Exchange box?
