NNTP server refuses to start

| Here's the scenario:
Windows 2003/IIS6. NNTP service appears to be running just fine,
however IIS Manager shows that the Default NNTP Virtual Server is
stopped. Trying to start it returns the following error:
NNTP Configuration
The service has returned a service-specific error code. Check the
Windows Event Viewer for Details.
When trying to create a new NNTP Virtual server, upon clicking OK at the
end of the wizard produces the following error message:
NNTP Configuration
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because
it has no enable devices associated with it. Check the Windows Event
Viewer for details.
The only event shat shows up when I do this is:
EVENT ID 94, Source: NNTPSVC.
Description: The Microsoft NNTP Service 6.0.3790.0 Version: 6.0.3790.0
Virtual server 1 has been stopped.
Other steps taken:
1) Changed permissions on NNTP folders to Everyone=Full Permission
2) Uninstalled/reinstalled NNTP service from Add/Remove Components module
3) Restarted NNTP service
4) Rebooted
Any ideas??
TIA,
JD Foster

| have you customised the configuration? maybe a logfile directory that
doesn't exist, removed some operators (e.g. NT AUTHORITY), IP restrictions?
